me, the undersigned, one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said taken this day before Colony, who states :-----

Jam Ng Kwan, 47 boatman, coffin-boat to. 702. The boat is

my Master's. his name is tong Ban On the 27th. day of the Enl. Moon (25th. March) he told us to follow the launch he was on. he did so. On arriving near the Stonecutters Island we went alongside and trans ferred a large bamper frou Lle launch to our coat. Hong Yeptold us to do this. He told we lo cut off the mat cover, when I saw it con- lained a dead body. The photograph shown me is the photograph of the dead man. Aone kau told us to lay the body cut in the hold and sail to laurati Eay and await further orders; we did so. The same day acout midday a launch steared up to us. My Master was on board. he told that this was the launch to tow us. he then went ashore. The launch then towed us to Chex han where we anchored, About an hour after a Chinese Junboat bared the "Kwong hang" took us in tow as far as tai Eing, after reporting at lai Chan. While in Chex Man bay and before Laxing us in tow, the "trong Hong" transferred a passenger from the Launch, that towed us from boligkong to herself. After arriva; at lai ting a boat case alongside and transferred the dead cody to their boat. They then warned us to go away. The folow-
